The 40th Separate Artillery Brigade was the first to receive the vehicles, which were approved for military use in August this year.
The Jura is a 5-ton tactical vehicle designed to protect soldiers during frontline missions. Equipped with a powerful diesel engine and light armor, the vehicle is capable of stopping shrapnel and light firearm bullets, providing greater safety for troops in hostile environments.
Soldiers from the 40th Brigade reported that they are beginning to familiarize themselves with the Jura, testing it on challenging terrain. So far, the vehicle has performed well on sandy terrain, and the brigade is waiting to see how it will handle flooded roads during the rainy season.
In addition to its efficiency on difficult terrain, the Jura is ideal for transporting small groups of combatants or ammunition to strategic positions, utilizing its luggage compartment. According to Army TV reporters, despite its weight, the vehicle has a smooth off-road performance and maintains a low noise level inside the cabin, favoring discretion in operations.
Developed by the Ukrainian company NPO Praktika, the Jura is based on the chassis of the SUV Land Cruiser 70. The structure has been modified with the installation of an armored capsule, specially designed to provide protection at the PZSA-4 level, equivalent to STANAG 4569 level 1. This allows the vehicle to withstand 5.45mm rifle bullets and explosions from various grenades under the wheels or floor.
To support the additional weight of 5.7 tons, the designers reinforced the suspension and installed a new braking system. The vehicle is equipped with a 200-horsepower diesel engine and 430 Nm of torque.
The Land Cruiser 70, on which the Jura is based, is known for its power and reliability, along with a minimalist design that features little electronics. Depending on customer preference, the vehicle can be equipped with an automatic, semi-automatic, or manual transmission.
